TORONTO-724 Solutions Inc., an Internet infrastructure software developer for financial services providers, has licensed a Wireless Application Protocol gateway designed by Neomar Inc. and integrated it into its Financial Services Platform.
Services on the platform include wireless banking and brokerage services, allowing the WAP devices to view bank account balances and transaction histories, transfer funds, pay bills, order checks and view stock quotes and charts.
The Neomar gateway was designed specifically for personal digital assistants, such as Palm operating system and Windows CE devices, as well as Research In Motion pagers, equipped with Neomar’s WAP browser technology. 724 licensed the gateway to extend its wireless banking service to these devices.
According to the agreement, 724 will sell the solution to financial institutions and install the Neomar gateway in their systems, along with application and wireless security technology from Certicom Corp.
Although Neomar has a portal aggregating various WAP sites written specifically to PDAs and data devices, the 724 solution is a closed application available only to customers of whatever financial institutions are selling it. As the 724 solution based on WAP, WAP phones can access it as well, so long as that user has bought access to the application from the bank.
