BERLIN-Synchronica Software GmbH, a wholly owned subsidiary of DAT Group plc, acquired the operating assets and intellectual property of Weblicon Technologies AG.
Weblicon was founded in 2000 by a group that included Synchronica’s managing director, Carsten Brinkschulte. The company provided personal information management and SyncML synchronization software for enterprises, portals, Internet service providers and telecom companies.
Synchronica bought the company’s assets via a competitive bidding process supervised by an insolvency lawyer handling the receivership of Weblicon. The transaction has been approved by the bankruptcy court.
“This transaction marks a next step in the consolidating market of mobile data synchronization and device management,” said Brinkschulte. “We believe that Synchronica is now in a unique position offering a complete portfolio of SyncML technology unmatched by the competition.”
London-based DAT bought Synchronica Software for around $1.7 million in April.
