PHILADELPHIA-Connexus Corp.’s *CD service has integrated its audio sampling technology with Wireless Application Protocol technology, enabling music identification on wireless Web devices.
According to Connexus, the *CD service uses proprietary song recognition technology allowing consumers to use wireless phones, landline phones, wireless-enabled Palm pilots, two-way pagers, the Internet and now wireless Web devices to identify and buy music being broadcast over the radio.
“What we found is that people accessing the Internet from WAP-enabled wireless phones want specific information quickly,” said Humphrey Chen, co-chief executive officer and vice president of product development for Connexus. “That’s one reason why we developed a service custom configured for these users and will continue to do so by supporting all major new technologies as they emerge.”
The service is available in Philadelphia, San Francisco and San Jose, Calif., with plans to expand to 30 other markets later this year.
