Bharti selects GSM vendor for western India

HONG KONG—Bharti Enterprises selected install Motorola to install a US$70 million GSM network including General Packet Radio Service (GPRS) equipment in the telecom circles of western India.

The contract covers the city of Mumbai and the state of Maharashtra and Gujarat. The first phase of the contract is set to be completed in early 2002 with a 1 million-subscriber capacity.
