BEDMINSTER, New Jersey, United States-Verizon Wireless said it will begin previewing its high-speed 1x network in select U.S. cities as a precursor to the commercial launch of services beginning later this year.
The preview, dubbed Express Network, will begin in the Philadelphia area and allow select customers and application developers to use the 1x network via Sierra Wireless AirCard 555 modems connected with personal digital assistants (PDAs) and laptop computers.
Verizon Wireless said it expects to consistently deliver between 40 and 60 kilobits per second (kbps) data speeds once commercial services are launched.
