Ericsson to cut 400 R&D workers

RICHARDSON, Texas—Ericsson AB issued a circular Tuesday in the company notifying the staff that about 400 workers in the research and development division will be laid off in January.

Spokeswoman Michelle French said the R&D activities there will be transferred to Stockholm and Montreal. Plano remains one of the company’s major offices in the United States, and it will, along with the Richardson office, concentrate on customer projects.

She said the decision is a part of Ericsson’s efficiency program.
