LONDON-Messaging application provider Scan Mobile announced it acquired MobileChannel.Network, which sells branded content services and technology to mobile operators-a further sign of the volatile content provider landscape.
Through the transaction, Scan Mobile will expand its lineup of carrier customers to 26 of the world’s top 50 mobile network operators. The company will incorporate MobileChannel.Network’s OTA Manager, which transmits ring tones and logos to users’ phones over the air, into its portfolio. The company will also gain the rights to sell MTV-branded ring tones and logos to carriers in Europe and Asia through a previous deal between MobileChannel.Network and MTV Networks Europe and MTV Networks Asia.
“MC.N’s services, such as MTV ring tones, enhance Scan Mobile’s breadth of offerings, making Scan a one-stop application source for mobile network operators,” said Julian Hardy, Scan Mobile’s chief executive officer (CEO).
Scan Mobile sells content through a variety of carrier partners, including Sprint PCS.
