ZAGREB, Croatia-Croatians sent nearly 600,000 short message service (SMS) messages through an m-commerce parking service in the capital of Zagreb. Th mobile parking service is offered by parking company Zagrebparking and mobile operators HTcronet and VIPnet.
The messages were sent between September 2001 and July 2002, with the use increasing substantially during the period.
To pay for an hour of parking, users send an SMS message with their car license numbers and the number of the parking zones. Before the period ends, users receive messages asking whether they want to pay for another hour and are charged normal SMS fees for the service.
