HELSINKI, Finland-Major handset makers are challenging Qualcomm Inc. for what they regard as the high royalty rates for wideband CDMA’s intellectual property rights.
The companies include Nokia Corp., L.M. Ericsson and Siemens AG.
“For example, according to the recent developments in China, the cumulative royalty rate seems to remain even under our earlier targeted cumulative five percent level,” said Yrjo Neuvo an executive vice president of Nokia, explaining how his company and others are keeping the royalty rates at single digit level.
