Public Safety Associates files suit against GM for map use

IRVING, Texas-Public Safety Associates Inc., which develops electronic maps for wireless E911, reportedly has filed a lawsuit against General Motors Corp. accusing the company of using its system without paying.

According to the lawsuit, Public Safety Associates licensed its maps to GM’s OnStar telematics service in 1997, and GM began offering the service to other car manufacturers in violation of the contract. The lawsuit also claims GM continued to use and sell the information after its contract expired in 2001.
