RESTON, Va.-Nextel Communications Inc. said it will have 80 percent of its markets Nationwide Direct Connect-enabled by July 1 with the addition of 13 states, including Indiana, Illinois, Wisconsin, Michigan, Texas, Oklahoma, Arizona, New Mexico, Kansas, Missouri, Louisiana, Ohio and Pennsylvania.
The newly launched markets join Nextel’s previously announced coverage areas including New England, Florida, California, New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Maryland, Washington, D.C., Virginia, Washington, Oregon, Georgia and Alabama.
The carrier added that it is on track to complete the nationwide rollout of the service by August.
