SAN JOSE, Calif.-Worldwide sales of semiconductors witnessed its third consecutive monthly increase from March to May of this year, according to the Semiconductor Industry Association.
In its report, the SIA said the sector enjoyed a 2-percent sales rise in May with a total of $12.50 billion. Sales of standard cell chips and programmable logic leaped by 8.6 percent, while Flash memory rose 4.4 percent in the wireless sector.
“As SARS and the geopolitical issues come under control, we expect to see demand in all geographic sectors, especially China, strengthen in the second half of the year,” said SIA president George Scalise.
