SAN FRANCISCO-Motorola Inc. said it has entered an alliance with MontaVista Software Inc. to make available an embedded Linux platform for Motorola’s i.MX1 line of application processors, which will target handsets and other wireless devices.
According to the deal, MontaVista Linux Professional Edition 3.0 will support the i.MX1 and i.MXL processors.
“This alliance allows software developers to leverage the benefits of both Motorola’s market leadership in the applications processor space and MontaVista Linux software solution to accelerate the development process for building innovative, smart mobile devices that include support for wireless-enabled broadband multimedia and Internet connectivity,” said Franz Fink, vice president and general manager, Wireless and Mobile Systems group for Motorola.
