Bundling=spending?

MOUNTAIN LAKES, N.J.-Telecommunications customers subscribing to package plans tend to spend more money on communications services than those who purchase only single services, according to research from Solomon Wolff Associates.

Research from the firm shows that subscribers with package plans spend more on cable television, Internet service, local phone service, long distance and wireless phone service. The group warns the research may indicate high-spending households have simply been first to move to package plans.

“Those communications companies not aggressively promoting package plans may find their best customers have already jumped to a competitor,” said Joey Wolff, partner at the Solomon Wolff. “And once they switch, many are less willing to switch again unless the offer is even richer. That means that companies getting in later will find it more expensive and more difficult to get consumers to switch.”
