ALAMEDA, Calif.-UTStarcom Inc. said it has agreed to acquire the assets of Telos Technology Inc., a move that will rev up its CDMA business and its profile not only in the fixed wireless arena, but also in wide area networks.
“Acquiring Telos accelerates and expands our global CDMA strategy, complements our existing IP-based wireless product portfolio and provides UTStarcom with access to new market segments-such as enterprise and rural-beyond our extremely successful PAS business,” said Hong Lu, president and chief executive officer of UTStarcom.
In pursuit of its great push to wide area networks and IP, the company also has acquired Hyundai Syscomm in South Korea, struck a UMTS deal with IPWireless and a licensing agreement with Qualcomm Inc.
