TNS buys U.S. Wireless Data assets

RESTON, Va.-Transaction Network Services Inc., a provider of data communications services for transaction applications, said it has acquired certain assets from bankrupt U.S. Wireless Data, including its Synapse wireless point-of-sale payment platform.

“This is the first acquisition for TNS since going public in March and is exactly the type of strategic acquisition we will continue to look for in the future,” said Jack McDonnell, chairman and chief executive officer of TNS. “Not only does this acquisition augment our current wireless abilities, but the addition of the Synapse capabilities broadens our wireless data transport services and helps to jump start our entrance into new markets such as quick-serve restaurants.”

Financial details associated with the transaction were not disclosed.
