LONDON-Vodafone Group plc said it has joined the Java Verified Program, which provides a process for testing and certifying Java-based mobile handset applications.
The carrier said it is a Platinum member in the initiative, which was launched in early 2004 by Motorola Inc., Nokia Corp., Sony Ericsson Mobile Communications L.P., Siemens AG and Sun Microsystems Inc. Developers that submit their applications to Java Verified testing can participate in the marketing and distribution program offered by Vodafone, said the carrier.
Vodafone said all new mobile Java applications distributed on its Vodafone Live! Service will have to be tested under the Java Verified Program staring this week.
