Alltel sells Fidelity stock for $350M

LITTLE ROCK, Ark.-Alltel Corp. said it has sold its interest in Fidelity National Financial to Goldman Sachs for about $350 million. The telecommunications provider noted it acquired the Fidelity stock in 2003 as partial consideration for the sale of Alltel’s information services business to Fidelity.

Alltel is currently in the process of acquiring wireless rival Western Wireless Corp. for approximately $6 billion. The acquisition will provide Alltel with more than 10 million wireless customers and reinforce its position as the nation’s largest regional operator.
