Hedge*hog*ing v. Interrupting conversations in an office environment by poking your head over the top of the cube.
From the “we can’t make this up” department, there’s a service provider getting started in the United Arab Emirates called “Moobility Telecom.” Don’t believe us? Go to www.moobility.com. And what is their logo? A cow, of course. Can any MVNO this side of the Atlantic be as creative? ——————————-
Now that plans have been announced for Alltel to become a privately held company, will it bother to release subscriber numbers, revenues and debt, capex spending, churn and the like?
And how will CEO Scott Ford adjust to answering to a few people rather than a bunch of shareholders? And how much will they tinker with Alltel? Bankers, be forewarned: running a wireless business is NOT the same as running any other business. We don’t know why, but it’s just not. ——————————-
We revisited GPS applications recently on a number of handsets and are still amazed at how well they work. If people knew they had such capabilities built into a device they are always carrying around, we wonder if they would be so willing to spend the several hundred dollars currently being charged for portable GPS units, or the several thousand dollars being charged for units built into new cars.

Hmm, why is it when one is editing a story on the disappointing uptake of mobile gaming, it seems like a good idea to quit out of the story to play a quick round of Tetraminoes? And what’s with the name, anyway? Is it a combination of Dominoes and Tetris? And why can’t I ever make it past stage 4? ——————————-
We get a lot of story pitches from PR professionals, but not all of them are fully baked. For example, here’s a few we received in the last few weeks: “Can I get your focus and deadline for the ODM/OEM focus for the June 16th issue? What do these acronyms mean by the way?”
And, on May 19, “Is there any flexibility for the Mobile to Mobile focus on June 21?” We had to explain the M2M focus actually meant machine to machine-and it was set for the May 21 issue. But hey, why do your homework if you can get someone else to do it for you?

Virgin Mobile USA is sponsoring the “Virgin Festival” this August. RCR Wireless News’ own Colin Gibbs promises us it’s not what it sounds like; it’s a music festival featuring acts like The Police, Smashing Pumpkins and The Beastie Boys. Now all that we want to know is where’s our invite?
