Who says wireless shows are boring?
Playboy Entertainment Group Inc. kicked off a new mobile initiative at the CTIA Wireless 2008 event in Las Vegas last week complete with the crowning of its first Miss Playboy Mobile during an after-hours event at the Palms Casino Resort’s Hugh Hefner Sky Villa. This year’s finalists were selected through online and text-message voting that began in February and was powered by Quattro Wireless. Judges at last week’s event were then burdened with selecting the winner, who in addition to the claiming the first Miss Playboy Mobile crown, received a $5,000 cash prize and a professional photo shoot at the Playboy Mansion in Los Angeles. Amber James, 25, of Seattle walked away with the title. Playboy said it plans to take the event international next year with a global winner to be announced at the 2009 Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain.
