Sybase 365 said it had processed more than 1 trillion interoperator messages since it launched the first SMS interoperability messaging hub in 2001. The milestone is equivalent to processing about 32,000 messages per second for every second of one year, said the company. Sybase said it processes more than 1.5 billion messages per day and it expects to hit the next 1 trillion message milestone sometime in 2012.
Syniverse Technologies said it reached a new milestone of moving 1.6 billion mobile messages per day on average during the second quarter of 2010, which represents an increase of 23% from a year ago. The company said its peer-to-peer messaging volumes, including both short message service and multimedia message service, were up 23% quarter over quarter, and MMS traffic grew 202% year over year.
TM Forum said it is moving its flagship Management World conference to Dublin’s new Convention Center, the CCD. The conference previously was held in Nice, France. The conference will be held May 23 – 26, 2011.
Paris-based Clubbing TV, a 24-hour music channel dedicated to electronic music, DJ and club culture, launched its live TV channel on the Yamgo mobile TV network. The Clubbing TV channel will feature music videos, popular artists, DJs and producers, as well as club reports from around the world.
ActiveTrak Inc., which provides tracking and data security and protection software for mobile devices, launched the beta version of its GadgetTrak Mobile 3 security solution via 2,300 retailers. The software is the company’s first pilot project to distribute its solutions directly to the point of sale. The product provides location data for lost and stolen smartphones, remote backup and data wipe. The company said the product also is tamper-proof, preventing thieves from modifying application settings or removing the SIM card to avoid being tracked.
American Tower Corp.‘s (AMT) Colombian subsidiary, ATC Sitios de Colombia S.A.S., launched operations in Colombia. The launch follows a recent agreement to purchase the exclusive use rights for up to 458 wireless communication tower sites from Telefonica S.A.‘s Colombian subsidiary, Colombia Telecomunicaciones S.A. E.S.P.
