SAN FRANCISCO – AT&T Mobility furthered its push into the Android space announcing a trio of new devices running Google Inc.’s operating system. The three devices – all from Motorola Inc. – run Android 2.1 and feature Motorola’s MotoBlur user interface and bring the carrier’s Android portfolio to eight devices.
AT&T Mobility, which is the exclusive domestic home to Apple Inc.’s iPhone and iPad 3G, unveiled its first Android-powered device earlier this year at the Consumer Electronics Show.
The new devices include the Motorola Flipout that include a pivoting QWERTY keyboard and will retail for $80 after all rebates and a two-year contract; the Motorola Flipside, which includes a slide-out QWERTY keyboard, 3.1-inch HVGA screen and will retail for $100 after all rebates and a two-year contract; and the Bravo, which features a 3.7-inch WVGA screen, 800 MHz processor, 3-megapixel camera and will retail for $130 after all rebates and a two-year contract. The Flipout is set to launch on Oct. 17, while the other two will be available “for the holidays.”
All three devices require a data package beginning at $15 per month as well as qualify for an early termination fee of up to $325.
Motorola said “enhancements” to its MotoBlur UI include filter social networking and Messages widgets; screen customization with up to seven home screens; a batter manager; personal and corporate e-mail; and improvements to social networking functionality.
