LITTLE ROCK, Ark.-Alltel Corp. announced it expanded its push-to-talk service to include additional coverage and features, new rate plans and new handsets.
“Customers are finding Touch2Talk ideal for short bursts of conversation, be it during family activities or communicating with employees one-on-one or in groups regardless of their locations,” said Frank O’Mara, the carrier’s executive vice president for marketing.
Alltel said its PTT service is now available nationwide, in the same areas as its voice and data services. The carrier also introduced a Buddy Alert feature that allows users to send a message to PTT handsets to start a conversation. Alltel’s new PTT rate plans include 50 group minutes for $5 per month or 100 minutes for $10 for local calling plans, or 100 minutes for $15 for a nationwide plan. All the plans include unlimited private messaging except for the $5 per month local plan, which includes 100 private minutes.
Alltel is selling the service on the Kyocera KX400 for $50 with a two-year service contract, or the LG AX4750 for $100 with a two-year contract.
