Turkey-based mobile operator Turkcell Iletisim Hizmetleri AS (TKC) said it plans to expand operations into Germany through its wholly-owned subsidiary Turkcell Europe. The carrier said it expects to begin offering service in Germany in April 4.
The German expansion, which is to include the launch of 1,200 retail locations, will initially target Turkish citizens living and traveling in Germany with prepaid and postpaid offerings. Turkcell currently serves 33.5 million customers in its home country, or roughly 54% of Turkey’s mobile customer base.
Turkcell also has investments in foreign operators in Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Georgia, Moldova, Cyprus, Ukraine and Belarus.
