ATLANTA-The Weather Channel has launched video service that includes local forecasts, severe weather reports, maps and video clips produced exclusively for mobile handsets. The service will initially be available through Sprint TV’s basic video offering.
“In the past, we have had considerable success deploying video products that were originally formatted for consumption on weather.com,” said Louis Gump, vice president of The Weather Channel’s mobile operations. “With made-for-mobile video content, we are innovating further in terms of the ways that consumers receive information about the weather on their mobile phone, giving them more control than ever over what information they receive, as well as how and how often they want to receive it.”
