@ MWC: Invest Sweden discusses mobile graphics improvements

BARCELONA, Spain—Invest Sweden is a government initiative formed to get foreign research and development dollars in Sweden in the telecom and IT sectors. Swedish companies are making huge advances in graphics on mobile devices this year, said Niklas Johnsson, head of information and communication technologies at Invest in Sweden Agency, during an interview during Mobile World Congress.
U.S. companies that are investing in Swedish firms are usually focused on graphics and delivery platforms, while Asian companies are focused on hardware and integration between hardware and software, Johnsson said.
Of particular note, Johnsson said Lund University in southern Sweden has been the foundation for a number of startup companies that have recently been acquired by companies including Apple Inc., Research in Motion Ltd., ARM and Intel Corp.
