Verizon offers NBA game from THQ Wireless

CALABASA HILLS, Calif.-THQ Wireless Inc. became the latest company to try to cash in on this weekend’s NBA All-Star Game with the launch of a new mobile basketball title.

The company unveiled “NBA All-Star 3-Point Shootout,” a branded game available to Verizon Wireless subscribers with Get It Now-enabled phones. Players can choose from four game modes and 60 current and former NBA players.

Verizon is charging $2.50 for monthly access to the downloadable title or $6.50 for unlimited use. Earlier this week, Verizon announced a text-messaging campaign, encouraging fans to vote for the event’s MVP with their handsets.

The NBA holds its annual All-Star Game Sunday in Denver.
