TOKYO (Dow Jones)–Mitsubishi Electric Corp. (6503.TO) said Tuesday it has filed a lawsuit against South Korea’s LG Electronics Inc. (066570.SE) over an alleged infringement of the Japanese company’s 3G mobile communication system patent.
Mitsubishi said it filed the lawsuit at the Tokyo District Court on Dec. 27, but did not make it public at the time. The first hearing at the court took place on Monday.
A Mitsubishi spokesman declined to give more details about the lawsuit.
Kyodo News reported that the Japanese electronics maker is seeking the suspension of imports of LG’s mobile handsets using the technology in question, while also demanding Y380 milion in damages.
