SAN DIEGO-Leap Wireless International Inc. expanded the international long-distance offering for its Cricket wireless service to more than 60 countries. The expanded service will allow customers to call the new markets for 18 cents per minute using a prepaid bucket of minuets.
The service includes Canada, Australia, New Zealand and countries in Latin America, South America, the Caribbean, Europe, Asia and the Middle East.
“Given our diverse customer base, we believe that expanded international access will be very rewarding since it gives our customers an affordable calling option to stay in touch with their friends and family,” said Al Moschner, senior vice president of marketing for Leap. “In addition to providing our customer added calling options, we also believe that the expanded [international long distance] service will further serve as an additional revenue stream that will positively impact our average revenue per user.”
Leap had previously provided long-distance calling services to only Canada and Mexico.
