OSLO, Norway-The Mobile Media Co. will team with U.K.-based technology company Rubberduck Media Lab Ltd. to provide live streaming video to mobile handsets around the world, the companies announced Tuesday.
Rubberduck will deliver 2.5- and third-generation-supported downloadable content to Mobile Media subscribers, allowing media companies to manage their own content and live feeds or use Rubberduck’s hosting services. The services are expected to start in the first quarter of this year.
“Downloadable content and streaming video services are turning the corner, and we believe 2005 will bring significant growth in the North American market,” said Steinar Svalesen, executive vice president of Mobile Media North America. “This partnership accelerates our ability to lead the way in this new mobile wireless era.”
Rubberduck has been operating live broadcast service in Scandinavian markets through Norwegian channel NRK.
