Ericsson snares South African W-CDMA contract

STOCKHOLM, Sweden-L.M. Ericsson has been selected by MTN South Africa to supply a W-CDMA network. The value of the contract was not disclosed.

MTN’s 3G subscribers will be able to experience high-bandwidth services, such as video telephony, mobile music and TV, as well as wireless broadband Internet access, Ericsson said. The announcement follows MTN’s decision to provide 3G services to its customers during the first half of 2005.
