    IEEE tackles SDN

On this week’s NFV/SDN Reality Check we talked with Amartus and Openet Labs on tapping analytics, orchestration for scaling automation and virtual network functions.
As the telecommunications world continues its evolution towards virtualized platforms, increased demands are being placed on network analytics in order for operators to run the orchestration platforms necessary to link legacy services with their new virtualized counterparts. This increase level of network analytics is also needed to help in the scaling of automation in order to support the real-time nature of virtualized networks and to run virtual network functions.
Maurizio Sturlesi, CTO at Amartus, and Gerry Donohoe, technical director at Openet Labs, provided insight into the changing role of network analytics as telecom operators move towards virtualized platforms; the importance of integrated analytics and orchestration in supporting increased use of automation and VNFs; how telecom operators have supported the necessary analytics, real-time monitoring and orchestration in order to support their virtualization plans; and some of the bigger challenges moving forward in terms of continued integration of integrated analytics and orchestration by telecom operators.
Make sure to join us next week when we are scheduled to speak with Intel and Red Hat on the boost OpenStack is providing for Intel-based performance.
