LONDON-The mobile-gaming space continued its trend toward consolidation as California-based entertainment publisher Sorrent announced it has acquired U.K. game publisher Macrospace.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Macrospace boasts a 40-game portfolio, including “Who Wants to be a Millionaire” and branded games from Cartoon Network, Eidos and Square Enix. Sorrent said it will leverage the acquisition to expand its presence in European and Southeast Asian markets.
“Macrospace is one of the most highly regarded mobile-gaming companies in Europe and is a true culture fit with Sorrent,” said Greg Ballard, Sorrent’s chief executive officer. “Their exceptional management team, innovative portfolio of games, and extraordinary technology and distribution significantly enhances our position in Europe and will be a substantial asset to Sorrent as we seek to become the leading mobile entertainment publisher in the world.”
