Cingular Wireless L.L.C. moved another step closer in its plans to integrate AT&T Wireless Services Inc.’s operations with the conversion of 1,055 AWS company-owned stores into Cingular Wireless stores. The carrier added that it now has more than 2,800 company-owned retail locations, and it plans to convert approximately 10,500 agent locations during the next several months.
Cingular said the conversion was accomplished Sunday night with more than 14,000 people working on the physical transition, which included the addition of Cingular phones, accessories, branding elements and signage.
Cingular also updated AWS’ Web site, which now links customers searching for rate plans and accessories to Cingular’s Web site.<p
