France Telecom, Nokia partner on remote access technology

HELSINKI, Finland-France Telecom and Nokia Corp. will partner to develop technology to allow wireless users to remotely access content from computers.

France Telecom is the parent company of European wireless carrier Orange plc.

The companies hope to offer products and services that provide remote access with maximum end-to-end security, identification and authentication guarantees. The partnership will use standards technologies such as nonproprietary access enablers, Nokia’s terminal software platforms and the Symbian operating system.

“Easy-to-use terminals and close collaboration with industry partners is key in bringing the benefits of mobility to areas such as imaging, music, games and entertainment,” the companies said in a prepared statement. “Working closer with customers and building the future together is at the heart of Nokia’s strategic direction.”
