Siemens releases two new phones

SAN DIEGO-Siemens Mobile unveiled two new phones to the U.S. market, including the company’s first 1-megapixel camera phone.

The S66 camera phone includes a 1.3-megapixel integrated still and video camera, a large high-resolution color screen and five-times digital zoom. The phone has integrated Bluetooth technology and is capable of synchronizing with Microsoft Outlook and Lotus Notes. The GSM phone also features multimedia messaging service, e-mail, three-dimensional gaming capabilities and an integrated RS-MMC memory card slot. The S566 is scheduled to be commercially available in October.

“Today’s trendy consumer expects quality technology in their mobile phones, and we’re wrapping that kind of technology in a package that exhibits class and sophistication,” said Bernt Klein, senior vice president and general manager of the mobile phones unit of Siemens Information and Communication Mobile L.L.C.’s North American region.

Siemens also announced the CT66, targeted at the youth market, is scheduled to become available in October.

The GSM CT66 has an integrated CIF camera with built-in picture viewer and photo-editor applications. The phone also has a high-resolution color screen, instant messaging, MMS and synchronization capabilities.
