Evite expands mobile services

Evite launched a free application that allows users to plan last-minute get-togethers from their phones or PCs.
Party planners can send invitations simultaneously with QuickVite via text message and e-mail, and recipients’ responses can be viewed via a computer on the popular online event-planning site. The text-message invitation also includes a clickable link for recipients to see who will be attending the event.
The new service comes on the heels of Evite’s “Send-to-Phone” feature, which delivers party information directly to users’ handsets. The company claims to have sent nearly one million mobile alerts to more than 450,000 users.
