GoConnect launches wireless search access to online directories

MELBOURNE, Australia-A subsidiary of Australia’s GoConnect Ltd. has launched a search tool to help users with Windows-enabled phones access phone numbers from online directory services.

DirectAssist, which is available for about $21 for a two-year use agreement, has launched in the United States and Australia, GoConnect announced yesterday. The service will soon be available in Hong Kong, the United Kingdom, Germany and Malaysia.

Once users find the correct number through the service, they can simply select it instead of using an operator, which can be costly, the company said.

“DirectAssist is a search tool for mobile devices that allows users to access third-party Web-based phone-directory services cost effectively in a number of countries,” said Wilson Win, GoConnect’s senior general manager of research and development.
