Kagan: Sprint ‘Magic Box’ speeds up wireless data

Sprint introduced something they call the “Magic Box,” to speed up wireless data connectivity for customers in their homes, offices or when they travel. Like with other wireless carriers, Sprint customers generally have no problem with speed. However, for the customers who live in a weak spot in the network and do have a problem with speed, the Magic Box cold be just the solution they are looking for.

What, you didn’t know wireless signal is not the same strength and speed everywhere? At any particular place, the signal strength can be one bar or five bars. That’s the case with every wireless carrier today. There are solutions. Every wireless carrier offers these kinds of devices for people who have weak signal in their home or office. And they work great.

Sprint says this Magic Box works with roughly 80% of their wireless devices. If you are in a weak spot in the network, simply plug this small device in at your office or home and see your speeds increase like magic.

No, the Sprint Magic Box won’t work with wireless devices from other carriers. If you have a slow connection with another carrier, call them for a solution. Many wireless carriers have a similar device to help customers in weak spots on their network.

Sprint winning wireless market share

Sprint performance keeps getting better and stronger and customers are happy. This is a far cry from the Sprint of yesterday. They are running a strong recovery and growth race and getting better every quarter. In recent years, we are seeing them increase market share, quarter after quarter. That is good news especially after their weak performance in the past.

The wireless industry continues to grow and to change. Going forward, I believe we will continue to see strong growth in this industry, but it will not all look the same for every competitor. Right now, Sprint is winning wireless market share.

What does tomorrow look like in wireless?

I believe AT&T Mobility will continue to grow in a variety of areas including wireless TV. Even though Verizon Wireless has not been exciting to watch lately, they will be very interesting to watch how they will integrate AOL and now Yahoo. Plus, they have talked about following AT&T into television.

Unlimited wireless data will play an ever-increasing role in wireless going forward. There are many ways wireless will grow going forward like mobile TV, the cloud, AI, VR, IoT and so much more. The next several years will be even more exciting and transformative than the last. In this world, I expect to see Sprint be a strong player based on what we are seeing to date. Stay tuned.
