Verizon adopts Fhoosh cybersecurity for SDP service

Verizon and Fhoosh strengthen partnership

Cybersecurity software company Fhoosh announced it is collaborating with Verizon to boost the company’s Software Defined Perimeter (SDP) service with fast end-to-end data protection.

Verizon’s SDP secures the connectivity between customer protected applications and authorized endpoints. What makes the solution different, according to the company, is it uses logical software components and virtualized resources, which are managed and offered as a service to provide scalability, agility and high security.

“Fhoosh performance security helps SDP give organizations a true competitive edge with new functionality and an improved customer experience,” said Verizon Asymmetric Solutions Architect Jeff Schweitzer. The company added the data speeds provided by Fhoosh are fast enough to secure live streaming from the edge, during transmission and through SDP environments.

Verizon originally selected Fhoosh to demonstrate its IoT data protection solutions applied to streaming secure video at the company’s operations convergent response event last June. A Fhoosh team of cyber security experts installed the company’s software, protecting video data obtained by IoT sensor devices mounted on tactical K9s and robots. The team then securely streamed the video in real-time to the command and control center for first responders taking part in the simulations.

The recent announcement builds upon the partnership between Verizon and Fhoosh as the latter company’s cybersecurity capabilities become an integral part of the former company’s SDP. Fhoosh said it will help Verizon SDP minimize security risks with data protection that safeguards against unauthorized access as well as improve boost system-wide performance. The lightweight technology scales with SDP, allowing it to protect data from inception on a variety of IoT devices.

“We’re thrilled to work together on a holistic vision to protect all data, all the time, everywhere. By joining our collective capabilities, we’re able to solve challenges that were previously impossible as we protect a customer’s data,” said Fhoosh CEO Eric Tobias in a statement.

This isn’t the first time Verizon has brought a company’s security software to its VNS platform. Last September, for example, the company selected security solutions business Vidder to power its SDP offering. With Vidder’s technology, Verizon said the new service could help protect companies against credential theft, malware propagation and server exploitation attacks throughout data centers and cloud environments.

“With Fhoosh innovations extending, enhancing and speeding Verizon SDP, we have an opportunity to better safeguard data as we create completely new product solutions ranging from secure surveillance and entertainment live streaming, to turnkey offerings for emergency responders and smart cities, smartphones and more,” added Schweitzer. “Together, we’re redefining the boundaries of what’s possible and dramatically changing the customer experience.”
