Ericsson teams with Endemol for interactive TV platform

L.M. Ericsson and Endemol International announced plans to develop an interactive TV and user-generated content platform designed to enable any mobile device user to upload, publish and share live or pre-recorded video.
Me-On-TV is a network and device-independent technology that enables content originating from a mobile device to be sent to any Web site, TV broadcast or other digital conduit for data. Broadcasters, Web site managers and mobile network operators will be able to directly manage live and on-demand content using the white-label service, the companies said.
“This global partnership flags Ericsson’s commitment to establish a leading position in multimedia. It shows our partnership approach with innovators in complimentary fields to develop consumer solutions for multiple screens that can benefit media companies and operators alike,” said Jan Wareby, senior VP and head of Ericsson’s multimedia business.
The service will be hosted and managed by Ericsson. Endemol will act as a distributor for Me-On-TV, licensing the technology as an integrated service in existing and new TV and multimedia formats. The service is already being used by Endemol in the Netherlands.
