WASHINGTON-Alexander Good, a former telecom executive and Reagan administration official, has been tapped as the new chief executive officer and vice chairman of Mobile Satellite Ventures.
MSV, a mobile satellite service licensee seeking to succeed in a market where others have failed, is currently seeking authorization to integrate an ancillary terrestrial component into its network. Mobile-phone carriers argue the Federal Communications Commission went afoul of law in giving MSS operators ATC flexibility.
“MSV is moving ahead with its plans to develop our next-generation business, and Alex is a strong addition to our executive team at this critical time in MSV’s history,” said Gary Parsons, who remains as MSV chairman but relinquishes his CEO title to Good. “His credentials in the telecommunications and wireless industries and in public policy make him the perfect choice to lead MSV into the future and to articulate our vision to customers, partners and the regulatory community.”
Good previously served as executive vice president of Bell Atlantic Corp. (now Verizon Communications Inc.) and as CEO and chairman of the board for Mtel International.
MSV plans to make more announcements Monday.
