Capital Markets: Intel invests in OpenFeint; quarterly earnings and more

Intel Capital made a strategic investment in OpenFeint, a mobile social gaming network. The investment will be used to expand the company’s commitment to multi-platform mobile gaming for smartphones and tablets, said the network’s creator, Aurora Feint. The company expanded OpenFeint cross platform to Android last month.
Globespan Capital Partners led a $10 million round of Series B financing into Pelican Imaging Corp., which specializes in computational imaging. The round also included participation from Granite Ventures, InterWest Partners and IQT. Barry Schiffman, co-founder and executive managing director at Globespan, will join Pelican’s board of diretors.
AT&T reported its revenues were $31.6 billion for the third quarter, up 2.8% from the same period last year. Net income was $12.3 billion, or $2.08 per share, compared with net income of $3.2 billion, or 54 cents per share, during the third quarter last year.
F5 Networks announced revenues of $254.3 million for its 2010 fourth fiscal quarter, up 45% from revenues of $175.1 million during the same quarter last year. Net income was $48.2 million, or 59 cents per share, compared with net income of $28.4 million, or 36 cents per share, during the previous fourth quarter.
ST Ericsson said its sales during the third quarter were $565 million, down from net sales of $728 million during the same period last year. Net loss for the quarter was $121 million, compared with net loss of $112 milion during last year’s third quarter.
Sony Ericsson reported third quarter sales of about $2.212 billion, down slightly from sales of $2.314 billion during last year’s third quarter. Net income for the quarter was $49 million, compared with a net loss of $164 million during the same period last year.
Texas Instruments reported revenues of $3.74 billion, an increase from revenues of $2.9 billion during last year’s third quarter. Net income for the quarter was $859 million, or 71 cents per share, compared with net income of $538 million, or 42 cents per share, during the same period last year. In addition, the company’s board of directors declared a quarterly cash dividend of 13 cents per share, which is payable Nov. 22 to shareholders of record on Nov. 1.
Qualcomm Inc.’s board of directors announced a quarterly cash dividend of 19 cents per common share, which is payable Dec. 22 to shareholders of record on Nov. 24.

Tessco reported revenues of $165 million during its second fiscal quarter of 2011, which ended last month, compared with revenues of $133 million during the same quarter last year. Net income was $3.3 million, or 43 cents per share, compared with net income of $2.6 million, or 34 cents per share, during the corresponding period a year ago. The company also declared a quarterly cash dividend of 10 cents per share, payable Nov. 24 to shareholders of record on Nov. 10.
