Service assurance and analytics company MYCOM OSI has been acquired by private equity Inflexion, which said that the telecom industry’s transition to 5G and internet of things services represents a significant opportunity for MYCOM OSI’s cloud-based assurance solutions. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Inflexion said that it acquired MYCOM OSI “due to the significant business growth opportunity, as [communication service providers] seek to transform to digital service providers, monetize digital, IoT and 5G services, and adopt intelligent solutions that automate network management to reduce operational and capital costs.”
Both companies are based in the U.K. MYCOM OSI was formed in 2014 from the combination of network performance management MYCOM and fault management-focused OSI; both of those companies also offered service management. MYCOM OSI’s customers include Three UK, Deutsche Telekom, Globe and Vodafone India, among others; the company says that its offerings are used by eight of the top 10 global CSP groups to manage network and service quality for more than 2 billion customers.
Inflexion says that MYCOM OSI is “poised for significant future growth as telecommunications companies transform to offer new digital, IoT and 5G services whilst adopting automated solutions to reduce operational costs. MYCOM OSI is well positioned as it leads the industry with its cloud-based automated assurance solution enhanced with [artificial intelligence]/machine learning.”
MYCOM OSI positions itself as the first cloud-native service assurance offering for both public and private clouds that has been commercially deployed at-scale at Tier 1 communications service providers. MYCOM OSI provides assurance for Three UK’s telco cloud network and also says that it is “automating up to 95% of … network quality management operations” at one of the five largest global CSPs, as well as the world’s fastest mobile network, largest 4G network and largest Voice over LTE service.
“We anticipated the telecoms industry’s transformation towards on-demand digital services using IoT and 5G and have rebuilt our portfolio in preparation using the very latest cloud-based technologies,” said Mounir Ladki, president and CTO of MYCOM OSI, in a statement. He added that support from Inflexion “will allow us to further expand in the telco and enterprise markets and accelerate our roadmap plans to further embed automation and AI to deliver the brain of the autonomic network.”
“We’ve had a great journey through several telecom generations, and have now transformed our company in to a leadership position for the next digital era based on IoT, 5G, automation and AI,” said Payam Taaghol, CEO of MYCOM OSI. “We are confident Inflexion’s international footprint, combined with their strong digital skills, make them an excellent partner for us as we embark on our next stage of growth.”
Simon Turner, managing partner of Inflexion, said that MYCOM OSI has “built up an excellent global client base and re-architected their technology and the company to address the global trend of digital transformation that is underway. With our support, the firm plans to continue to evolve their offering and expand their global footprint.”
