InphoMatch sees boost in U.S. text messaging

CHANTILLY, Va.-Messaging company InphoMatch Inc. announced it delivered almost 2 billion text messages in the first quarter, up from 650 million messages in the first quarter of last year. The company said it delivered more than 4 billion intercarrier short message service messages last year.

“The rapid growth of the SMS market in the United States is directly reflected in the sheer volume of messages InphoMatch successfully delivers every day, every month and throughout the year,” said Neville Street, the company’s chief executive officer. “Anyone who wants to better understand the potential opportunity of MMS messaging can gain insight by reviewing the astonishing rate of growth in our SMS traffic numbers.”

InphoMatch, along with partners VeriSign Inc. and Ztango, manages the intercarrier text messaging industry in the United States. The company works to deliver text messages sent among rival carriers. InphoMatch is also looking to expand into the content and media business by offering text and content delivery services to various brands and businesses.
