Alltel expands video offerings to 200 clips

Alltel Corp. added to its video portfolio with a two-tiered service that offers access to more than 200 on-demand video clips from network television shows.
The operator introduced a $4-a-month application that includes content from NBC News, NBC Entertainment, FOXsports.com, Discovery Mobile and several MTV Networks franchises. A premium version of the service is available for $6 a month and includes extra content from the basic channel lineup as well as programming from NBC Sports, TLC, Animal Planet and Nickelodeon.
The on-demand service complements Alltel’s offering of streaming video, a $10-a-month offering that features content from more than two dozen channels.
“Axcess TV on Demand provides our customers with an easy way to watch videos at a great value,” said Wade McGill, senior vice president of wireless product management at Alltel. “Wherever our customers may be, they will be able to tune into their favorite shows at a price that everyone can afford.”
