VZW overhauls pricing plans

Verizon Wireless restructured its pricing plans, adding a half-dozen new “premium” plans for data-hungry consumers.
The plan restructuring now provides for three levels of options for individual plans: “basic,” “select” and “premium.” The “basic” plans begin at $40 per month for 450 anytime calling minutes. Text and data services are available on a per-usage basis. The “select” offering is a $20 premium and includes unlimited text, video and picture messaging. The “premium” offering is an additional $20 and includes unlimited video clips, mobile Web, mobile e-mail and unlimited use of the carriers VZNavigator GPS service.
Family plans are also offered with the three tiers, beginning at $70 per month for 700 anytime minutes shared between two lines and each additional line for $10 per month. The “select” options adds unlimited texting for a $30 premium, with additional lines at $10 per month. The “premium” offering begins at $140 per month for two lines with additional lines charged at $30 per month.
“These are lifestyle plans that respond to customers who want one bundle with all of the services they use in everyday life,” said Rob Miller, Verizon Wireless’ VP of marketing. “We are confident these plans are more robust than any on the market today.”
