ATLANTA-CellStar Corp., a provider of value-added logistics services, launched its reverse logistics solution called Omnigistics.
“Until now, ‘reverse logistics’ has been the most difficult and costly process to manage in the wireless industry-often referred to as ‘the black hole’ of the business,” said Chris Smith, senior vice president and general manager of CellStar’s U.S. region. “Every month, carriers and big retailers take back thousands of expensive handsets, all serialized and with different warranty policies, and send them to outside repair and refurbishment centers.
“Integrated systems for keeping track of individual returned assets, costs of repair, warranty credits and final disposition simply didn’t’t exist until today,” continued Smith. “CellStar’s new service changes all that, and equips our customers with an innovative, end-to-end supply chain management system. To our customers, this means reverse logistics is no longer ‘the black hole’ of their business, but a high-value area of competitive advantage.”
