Western Wireless Corp. deployed its Phase I Enhanced 911 service for Cellular One customers in North Dakota. The carrier said the service, which was deployed in partnership with county public safety answering points, is available for about 70 percent of its North Dakota customers, including the cities of Bismarck, Fargo and Grand Forks. “The joint efforts of Cellular One and the public-safety forces in North Dakota in providing E911 services assures our citizens greater safety and an added sense of security,” said North Dakota Gov. John Hoeven. “Digital wireless services are important to our economic development, public safety and quality-of-life initiatives in our state.”

ASC’s Inspiration Pro Quality Monitoring solution has been chosen by Vietnam’s VMS-MobiFone GSM carrier to improve customer care. The solution will allow VMS-MobiFone to monitor and evaluate levels of quality and performance of customer-care agents. The carrier said it employs 100 agents at its contact center to field approximately 20,000 calls per day.

Shure Inc.’s QuietSpot headsets for mobile phones are now available to Sprint PCS customers through the carrier’s official accessories Web site and will be available in Sprint retail stores beginning in May. Shure said the $50 headset’s NoiseBlocker earphone effectively blocks 20 decibels or 80 percent of ambient noise, while the noise-canceling boom microphone reduced surrounding noise by up to 70 percent.

VisionAir announced it VisionMobile wireless information solution has been certified for the AT&T Wireless Services Inc. GSM/GPRS network. The VisionMobile application offers workers in the field access to wireless data. The application passed test requirements-including functionality and stability, intuitive navigation and user interface, performance management, security, connectivity and technical support availability-to become a certified solution. In addition to receiving the certification, VisionAir has been made an official member of AT&T Wireless’ Marketing Alliance Program and an AT&T Wireless certified solution provider.
