TORONTO-AOL Canada Inc. and the venture of Inukshuk Internet Inc., Allstream Inc. and NR Communications L.L.C. announced a service trial of the venture’s new broadband wireless access network.
AOL Canada will trial its service on the venture’s high-speed wireless network in certain areas in Toronto. The AOL “bring your own access” offer currently is available on a variety of connectivity options, including dial-up access and AOL Broadband DSL.
The venture was formed in November 2003 among Allstream, Inukshuk-a subsidiary of Microcell Telecommunications Inc. which owns the spectrum-and NR Communications to build a multipoint communications system to offer high-speed Internet, Internet Protocol-based voice and local networking services in Canada.
The venture launched its BWA network in Richmond, British Columbia, last week. The network uses wireless IP technology provided by NextNet Wireless.
